Reasons people book a checkup.

You do not need a problem to justify an appointment.

Something feels off and you can't name it
You're functioning, but only just
Friends have asked if you're okay
A big change is coming and you want to be ready
You've never actually talked to anyone about this
Family history you'd like to get ahead of
You quietly wonder if this is how everyone feels
You'd rather catch it early

What a first appointment actually looks like

A full one-hour video visit with an Alberta physician. They ask about what's been happening, how long it's been going on, and what you've already tried. Nothing is decided without you, and follow-up appointments are unlimited.

  • A full hour with your physician, not a 5-minute triage call
  • Plain-language explanation of what's driving your symptoms
  • A written care plan you leave the appointment with
  • Internal referral to our psychiatrists or counsellors if you need it
  • Unlimited follow-up appointments, you're never left alone with a plan
On medication

You will never be handed a prescription you didn't ask for.

Medication is one option among several, alongside therapy, CBT, sleep and lifestyle work, or simply monitoring for now. Your physician explains the trade-offs and you decide together. Plenty of our patients never start medication at all.

If you do choose it, you get unlimited follow-up appointments to adjust or stop, not a prescription and silence.

One hour, and a straight answer about where you stand.

A checkup screens across mood, anxiety, sleep, attention, substance use, and stress, the full 19 clinical categories, so anything worth addressing surfaces early, while it's small.

That's a good outcome and a useful one, you'll have a baseline and a clinician who knows your history if things change. Nothing is invented to justify the appointment.

It's a physician appointment, so a clinical record exists, protected under PIPEDA and Alberta's Health Information Act. It isn't shared with employers, insurers, or family without your explicit consent.

Physician assessment and every follow-up appointment are billed to AHCIP, no cost to you, no credit card at booking, no cap on visits. Optional non-physician services such as counselling are quoted transparently before you commit.

No. You book directly. If your plan calls for a psychiatrist, our physicians refer you internally to our own psychiatry team, so there's no external waitlist to join.

You've read this far. That's usually the sign.
