Grief isn't an illness. But it can become one you shouldn't carry alone.
Physician support for bereavement, prolonged grief, and loss that has stopped moving. Free with your Alberta Health Card, no referral.

When grief has stopped moving.
Grief has no schedule, but when it stops your life for months, support helps.
What a first appointment actually looks like
A full one-hour video visit with an Alberta physician. They ask about what's been happening, how long it's been going on, and what you've already tried. Nothing is decided without you, and follow-up appointments are unlimited.
- A full hour with your physician, not a 5-minute triage call
- Plain-language explanation of what's driving your symptoms
- A written care plan you leave the appointment with
- Internal referral to our psychiatrists or counsellors if you need it
- Unlimited follow-up appointments, you're never left alone with a plan
Grief doesn't get medicated away, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Most grief support is talking, structure, and time, sometimes with treatment for the depression, anxiety, or sleep loss layered on top. Medication is discussed only where there's a clear reason for it.
If you do choose it, you get unlimited follow-up appointments to adjust or stop, not a prescription and silence.
Grief, depression, and trauma can look identical from the inside.
Prolonged grief disorder, depression, and PTSD after a traumatic death are treated differently. A physician assessment tells you which one you're dealing with and what actually helps.

Same appointmentQuestions about grief support
Book free appointmentOften, yes, with support. But when grief becomes prolonged and stops your functioning, it's a recognised condition with real treatments. You're not failing at grieving by asking.
No. Grief that has been carried for years is exactly the kind our physicians see, and it responds to care.
Physician assessment and every follow-up appointment are billed to AHCIP, no cost to you, no credit card at booking, no cap on visits. Optional non-physician services such as counselling are quoted transparently before you commit.
Only your care team. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on Canadian servers, and handled under PIPEDA and Alberta's Health Information Act. Nothing is shared with your employer or family without your explicit consent.
