What a first appointment actually looks like

A full one-hour video visit with an Alberta physician. They ask about what's been happening, how long it's been going on, and what you've already tried. Nothing is decided without you, and follow-up appointments are unlimited.

  • A full hour with your physician, not a 5-minute triage call
  • Plain-language explanation of what's driving your symptoms
  • A written care plan you leave the appointment with
  • Internal referral to our psychiatrists or counsellors if you need it
  • Unlimited follow-up appointments, you're never left alone with a plan
On cost

Physician appointment free. Counselling is $150 per session.

Counselling is a non-physician service, so it isn't billed to AHCIP. It's private pay at $150 per session, no packages and no membership, and many private insurance plans reimburse it.

If you do choose it, you get unlimited follow-up appointments to adjust or stop, not a prescription and silence.

We'll tell you honestly if you don't need us.

Some people need medical assessment, some need counselling, and some need neither yet. The free physician appointment exists to sort that out before you pay for anything.

Counselling tends to focus on a current situation and practical coping; therapy goes deeper into longstanding patterns. Your physician will point you to whichever fits what you've described.

The free physician appointment is how we make sure you're routed correctly and that nothing medical is being missed. It costs you nothing and it protects you from paying for the wrong service.

Only your care team. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on Canadian servers, and handled under PIPEDA and Alberta's Health Information Act. Nothing is shared with your employer or family without your explicit consent.

You've read this far. That's usually the sign.
