You don't have to hit bottom to deserve help.
Physician assessment and treatment for substance use disorder, gambling disorder, and compulsive gaming and screen use. Free with your Alberta Health Card, no referral.

Signs it's stopped being a choice.
There's no threshold you have to cross first. If it's on your mind, it's worth an hour with a doctor.
A conversation about what's happening, not a lecture.
Your physician takes a full history without moralising: what you use or do, how it started, what it's doing to your sleep, mood, money, and relationships. Then they tell you plainly what they're seeing and what your options are.
- A full hour, private, from wherever you are in Alberta
- Assessment for substance use, gambling, and compulsive gaming or screen use
- Screening for the depression, anxiety, ADHD, or trauma underneath
- A written plan: therapy, medication where it helps, harm reduction, or monitoring
- Internal referral to our psychiatrists or counsellors when it’s needed
- Unlimited follow-ups, because the first plan is rarely the last one
Honesty here is medical information, not a confession.
Your appointment is confidential and stored on encrypted Canadian servers. Your physician needs an accurate picture to help you, and nothing you say is shared with your employer, your insurer, or your family without your consent.
We're not an abstinence program. Whether your goal is stopping, cutting back, or just understanding what's going on, your physician works with the goal you actually have.
Addiction almost never travels alone.
Substance use, gambling, and compulsive gaming sit on top of something most of the time: untreated ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, or chronic pain. Because our physicians assess across all 19 clinical categories, you get the whole picture instead of one label.

Book free appointmentNo. You don't need to be sober, ready to stop, or certain about anything to be assessed. Most patients book precisely because they haven't been able to stop on their own.
Yes. Gambling disorder is a recognised diagnosis, and compulsive gaming and screen use are assessed and treated on the same behavioural-addiction model. The loss of control, the escalation, and the consequences are what matter, not the substance.
Your appointment is confidential health information, protected under PIPEDA and Alberta's Health Information Act. It isn't shared with employers, licensing bodies, or family without your written consent.
Where it's clinically appropriate, yes, there are effective medications for alcohol, opioid, and nicotine dependence. Your physician will explain what's realistic for your situation, and medication is always one option among several, never a requirement.
Physician assessment and every follow-up appointment are billed to AHCIP, no cost to you, no credit card at booking, no cap on visits. Optional non-physician services such as counselling are quoted transparently before you commit.
Only your care team. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on Canadian servers, and handled under PIPEDA and Alberta's Health Information Act. Nothing is shared with your employer or family without your explicit consent.
You've read this far. That's usually the sign.
One private hour with an Alberta physician, no judgement and no cost, is the least risky thing you can do about this.
